Loved this knit wrap pattern when I saw it today, looks fast and easy and will be super for spring or autumn – or in air conditioning any time 0f the year.
The pattern was free from Lincraft stores and naturally uses their yarn so it’s really one for the Australian knitters. The pattern uses 1 ball of Lincraft Mega yarn which is “railway track” type yarn with two tracks and a bar across – www.straw.com may have something similar.
The other yarn used is Winter Warm – an “acrylic mohair” … bet there’s a whole lot of little Angora goats running around wondering if they are about to become obsolete….
Anyway for those who’d like to try – here’s the pattern.
I x ball of multicoloured Winter Warmth
1 x ball of plain Winter Warmth
1 x ball Mega yarn
1 pair 15mm needles.
Holding 1 strand each of Winter Warmth multicoloured and plain together, cast on 3 sts.
Knit 4 rows, increasing at beginning and end of each row.
Then change to 1 strand of Mega yarn and 1 strand of plain winter warmth and knit a further 4 rows, then change back to previous combination.
Follow above pattern and continue increasing each end of every row until you have 90 sts.
Knit 4 rows without increasing. Cast off (BO) loosely. Weave in ends.
Cut 20cm long strands and using 2 at a time and a crochet hook, hook through the edge of the wrap to form the fringing. (the pattern doesn’t specify but from the picture it looks as if you alternate, the strands to include the Mega yarn (railway track yarn).
Hope you enjoy this wrap if you decide to try the pattern.
Bye for now….
