Bags of knitting – a knitting blog

knitting alpaca gloves

September 30, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I’m showing off these alpaca gloves my sister just finished knitting in Lincraft “lima” alpaca – using her standard glove pattern.

She knitted them longer than she normally would, so they reach further up the arm to avoid that dreaded – cold wrist syndrome.

The yarn is 45% alpaca, 35% acrylic, 20% polyamide

The gloves are incredibly soft and warm (they are a mans’ size so look a little large on her hands in the photo ). Time will tell how well they wear.

As for me I’ve been sorting and typing web pages so not much knitting achieved although I have been test driving one of the bamboo yarns as an alternative to knitting cotton for summer projects – so far I’ve found it really nice and smooth to knit with, hopefully I’ll have a finished project to show you together with a pattern to download later in the week.

The only other thing we’ve been doing is taking time out to smell the flowers and enjoy the garden now some of the bulbs are flowering.

Despite the drought and water restrictions the hippeastrums (barbados lilies) are flowering and looking truly gorgeous.

Here’s one we cut for the house. Hope it makes you smile …

Bye for now………
